W-Series Terminal Block Selection
Wemid Material, Mounts on TS35 DIN Rail, Screw-Clamp
Advantages of Weidmuller W-Series Terminal Blocks
The W-Series Screw Clamp Terminal Blocks were introduced to provide a larger number of varying types of terminal blocks with the same terminal block profile. Not only does this make a more aesthetically pleasing installation but it reduces wiring and maintenance labor costs. It is easier to put the wire into the terminal block when they are all in alignment. Additionally, recent developments in the manufacturing process have enabled the use of the ZQV pluggable jumpers. This allows the option of installing up to 3 rows of pluggable jumpers in the top of the terminal block. These jumpers are easy to install and remain solidly in place as a result of the spring mechanism of the jumper. Jumpers installed in this way do not compete for space with the wiring installed in the cage clamp.
All Weidmuller W-Series Terminal blocks fit onto industry standard 35mm DIN mounting rail. The body of the terminal blocks are molded from heat resistant Wemid material that also resists breakage.

Purpose of Weidmuller W-Series Terminal Blocks
The Weidmuller W-Series was created primarily to improve the SAK series in three areas:
- Polyamide, the plastic or nylon used in the moulding of the SAK product line has a relatively low melting point. The W-Series introduced the new material, Wemid, which has a higher melting point but still remains flexible and resists breakage.
- TS 32 rail is not a universally accepted standard for mounting rail. The W-Series terminal blocks were designed to mount on industry standard TS 35 DIN Rail. This rail is widely used for mounting other electrical and electronic devices.
- Many of the terminal blocks in the SAК Series product line have different profiles. When placed together on a mounting rail insertion of the wires can be difficult. Also, the installation may not be aesthetically appealing. The W-Series terminal blocks were designed with a more uniform block profile. This feature makes insertion of wires during installation much easier.
The W-Series terminal blocks share the same proven screw/cage clamp technology as the SAK Series terminal blocks. However, improvements were made to the current bar to support improved jumpering (or cross-connection) capabilities
For decades, Weidmüller's W-Series terminal with screw clamp connection technology, has set the standard. With its many advantages, the W-Series remains the unsurpassed market leader.
The W-Series offers solutions for conductor cross-sections from 0.06 to 300 mm2 and for all common electrical functions. Another advantage is the choice of plug-in (ZQV) or screw-in (WQV) cross-connections within one modular terminal. It provides considerable time savings compared to all other screw terminals on the market.
Thanks to the patented design of Weidmüller's W-Series screw connection technology it is possible for two conductors of the same cross-section to be connected in one and the same clamping point without difficulty. Weidmuller W-Series Feed-Thru Terminal Blocks
These terminal blocks are primarily used to connect a single wire to another single wire. For example, where a trunk (or a multi-pair cable) enters a junction box the ends of all wires are connected to terminal blocks. The field devices (e.g. temperature sensors, valve operators, indicator lamps, etc) are connected via 2 or 3 wires to the other side of the terminal block. When stranded wire is used and inserted in the terminal blocks, often wire ferrules will be used to eliminate wire whiskers from shorting out the circuit and causing intermittant and difficult to diagnose problems with the installation.
Weidmuller W-Series Multi-Level Feed-Thru Terminal Blocks
Multi-Level Feed-Thru Terminal Blocks are useful when panel or enclosure space is limited. Multi-level terminal blocks allow the wires to be "stacked" on top of one another.
Weidmuller WSI Hinged Fuse Block
Weidmuller's space-saving WSI-Series Hinged Fused Terminal Blocks provide a convenient way to include in-line fusing in your ciruitry. The WSI 6 accepts 5x20mm fuses while the WSI 6/2 accepts U.S. standard 1/4"x1-1/4" fuses. The WSI fuse blocks have a profile that is similar to the WDU 2.5 and WDU 4 feed-thru terminal blocks. This makes wiring much easier and helps eliminate wiring errors.
Weidmuller WTR Disconnect Terminal Block
The Weidmuller WTR Disconnect Terminal Block, available in WTR 2.5 (5mm thick) and WTR 4 (6mm thick), is a space-efficient option for installing a disconnect terminal in your wiring circuit. In addition, this versatile block offers additional features:
- ZQV Jumpering - the WTR Disconnect Terminal block now accepts ZQV pluggable jumpers
- STB Test Sockets - This block is available with STB test sockets to help you troubleshoot your system. The STB is located where the standard cage-clamp screws are and is finger-safe.
- SIHA and BEST Plugs - This block is also available without the disconnect lever. This permits the usage of either SIHA Fuse holders or BEST component holders. These innovative accessories convert your disconnect block into a wide variety of other electrical circuit elements.
Weidmuller WPE Ground Blocks
The Weidmuller WPE Ground Blocks securely and conveniently connect to the DIN mounting rail and insure that your "earth" circuits make contact with the mounting panel.
