DIN Mounting Rail Selection
Oversized Shipment Costs
Standard DIN Rail is shipped in bundles of 10 or 20 pieces. This helps insure the rail is not bent during shipment. In addition, due to the length of the rail, there are additional shipping costs for the "oversized" nature of the product. SCS offers common sizes of DIN mounting rail in 1-meter lengths. This rail may be purchased by the piece and can help reduce the cost of your project materials. SCS maintains a large inventory of 2-meter rail lengths. If you need 1-meter rail lengths that do not appear on our website, please contact us. We can cut more 1-meter length pieces from our inventory.
DIN Mounting Rail for Modular Terminal Blocks
Both active and passive components and intelligent modules are mounted on terminal rails -- a method which has proven its worth over the years. Weidmuller terminal block mounting rails are made of either steel, stainless steel, aluminum or copper, depending on the area of application.
A terminal rail can also be used as a protective conductor busbar. Weidmuller PE / earth terminals in the W-Series, Z-Series, I-Series, SAK-Series, and AKZ Series comply with the requirements set forth in IEC 60 947-7-2. According to VDE 0100 part 540, for conductors with cross-sectional areas exceeding 10 sq mm, both protective and neutral conductors may be grouped together as a single cateory of conductors designated PEN.
Stainless Steel DIN Mounting Rail
Stainless Steel refers to all kinds of steels (or alloys) which are enhanced to resist corrosion. Generally, this means that the steel contains nickel and/or chromium. Weidmuller's stainless steel terminal teminal block mounting rails contain 18% chromium and 10% nickel.
Aluminum DIN Mounting Rail
Aluminum is second only to copper in its electrical conductivity. One advantage to the use of aluminum is the light weight of this materail. Aluminum oxidizes quickly in air. The thin layer of oxidized aluminum provides a protective barrier against corrosion. Weidmuller's aluminum terminal block DIN mounting rail is an excellent choice for light-weight installations.
Copper DIN Mounting Rail
Copper is a heavy metal that has excellent electrical conductive characteristics. Since copper is a relatively soft metal, Weidmuller's copper terminal rails are 2.3 mm thick. Weidmuller's copper (Cu) terminal block mounting rail can be used (with appropriate electrical isolation) as a high-current carrying capacity busbar.
Steel DIN Mounting Rail
Weidmuller began developing RoHS-compliant surfaces early on to meet the requirements of the EU diretives. This commitent is now paying off because you, the customer, can be assured you meet the statutory requirements while still receiving the customary, high-quality materials that Weidmuller is known for. Weidmuller's Steel DIN Terminal Block mounting rail, either slotted or unslotted, in either 7.5 mm or 15 mm heights, are the right choice for your terminal block mounting requirements.
