Weidmuller Busbar Installation Considerations

Tin Plated Copper Busbar is commonly used in termination enclosures as a single point of termination for all shielding (or grounding). The busbar is mounted on to standoffs to isolate the potential from the cabinet. These standoffs are usually SH1 or SH2S standoffs (P/N 29986 or P/N 64172). Once the busbar is mounted onto the standoffs, the wires are connected to the busbar via a clamping mechanism. In the case of the pre-punched and threaded busbar, NSch (P/N 28020), the screw and pressure plates are the clamping mechanism. In the case of the 10x3 mm busbar or the 6x6mm busbar, the ZB-Style cage-clamp connectors are used to terminate the wires to the busbar.

One of the advantages of the Weidmuller bare copper perforated busbar, NSch, is that the wire spacing is fixed by the location of the holes. In other words, all of the clamps cannot "bunch up" on one end of the busbar.

If the busbar is used for a potential other than ground, hoods or covers should be used to insure adequate personnel protection from electrical shock.
